Daryl Braithwaite cancels Victoria performance due to sudden 'illness'

Australian rock legend Daryl Braithwaite has been forced to cancel his concert and 30th anniversary of "The Horses" after being hospitalised in Melbourne.

The 72-year-old was expected to perform at the Mallacoota Oval tonight.

Music and entertainment company Mushroom Group broke the announcement to fans on Facebook saying, "due to illness Daryl Braithwaite is unable to perform at today's 2021 SOUNDS BETTER TOGETHER concert at Mallacoota".

According to the post, Braithwaite said he is "incredibly sorry to cancel as I was really looking forward to returning to Mallacoota where I spent some time recently".

"I'm having a few days rest and will be back on track next week."

Jon Stevens has been confirmed to step in to replace the set.

"I'm sorry to hear our mate Daryl is unwell and I wish him the speediest of recoveries," Stevens said.

The details regarding the Australian singer's illness have not been revealed but his condition is reportedly not serious and isn't coronavirus related.
