Gunman shoots tradie at Melbourne worksite, citizen's arrest performed

Workers have performed a citizen's arrest this morning after a gunman allegedly fired shots at a tradie at a construction site in Melbourne's west.

Emergency services attended the Rebecca Drive worksite in Ravenhall just before 8.30am, where a tradesman suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Workers on site restrained the 80-year-old alleged gunman until police arrived.

Annette, whose son was working at the worksite next door, claimed the alleged shooter pulled up in a truck before shooting the man.

"A guy has pulled up in a truck and came out and shot him twice … in the arm," she told 3AW.

"It's a citizen arrest. They've got him down."

Officers remain on scene as investigations continue.

The alleged gunman remains in police custody.

"The man, believed to be in his 80s, is currently assisting police with their enquiries," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
