Farmer dragged into river and killed by crocodile

An Indian farmer has been killed by a crocodile while picking grass for his cattle on a riverbank.

Nabaghana Nayak, from Panchutikiri village in Odisha, an eastern Indian state on the Bay of Bengal, was found dead on the riverbeds of the Mantaie river.

Mr Nayak was presumed missing when he did not return home in the evening after a day of farm work.

Reports allege the crocodile attacked the man, dragged him into the river and killed him.

Local forest authorities are yet to find the crocodile.

Police have searched the area and sent the body for a postmortem.
