Sydney mother charged with stabbing own son

A mother in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs has been charged with allegedly stabbing her own son.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Drumalbyn Street, Bellevue Hill at about 1.40am and found a 22-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his arm, shoulder and back.

"Initially he had extremely low blood pressure indicating he had a significant amount of bleeding and the location of the wounds can certainly be fatal," NSW Ambulance Inspector Giles Buchanan told 9News.

As paramedics rushed to get the victim into the back of an ambulance, his mother could be heard screaming his name as police held her back.

A crime scene was set up and the victim's 55-year-old mother was taken into custody.

A knife was collected as evidence and is being forensically tested.
