Dodgy toys to avoid putting under the tree this Christmas

With just under a month until Santa arrives, most of us have already started our Christmas shopping.

But parents are being warned of dodgy and potentially dangerous children's toys that could put your child at risk if they find it under the tree this year.

The Queensland Office of Fair Trading released a report naming and shaming six toys, all aimed at children under three, that could put a sour spin on your holidays.

"A very high-risk group, they all contained or released small parts, which are a choking or suffocation hazard for your children," Fair Trading's Adrian Roudenko told 9News.

Among the no-go items are a wooden puzzle, a rip-off Paw Patrol toy, a block game and anything containing easily accessible button batteries.

But with more than 5500 toys assessed, there are still plenty of options to surprise little ones, with Lego, Nerf super soakers and Our Generation dolls already proving popular buys this Christmas.
