Nine News Sydney anchor Peter Overton has revealed he underwent surgery to remove a melanoma.
The newsreader Tweeted a post-surgery photo of himself today after going under the knife yesterday, illustrating his own battle.
"I have fair skin and am vigilant re: my skin checks every few months," Overton wrote.

After undergoing surgery to remove it, Overton said he was a "lucky fella".
"For those thinking about getting their skin checked. Do it. Now," he wrote.
The government has estimated that melanoma will be the third-most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia in 2020, with more than 16,000 predicted victims.
