Tasmania to add NSW to list of open borders

Tasmania will open its borders to people from New South Wales without mandatory COVID-19 quarantine from next Friday.

Premier Peter Gutwein today announced NSW would be reclassified as a "low-risk" area next week.

Previously people coming in from NSW had to quarantine for two weeks before they were allowed into Tasmania.

The announcement came as NSW recorded 12 new cases of coronavirus today, with 10 in hotel quarantine.

NSW Health said the two local cases are household contacts of people linked to the Oran Park cluster and have been in isolation.
