NSW Premier slams Queensland's 'extremely unfair' border move

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk won't be allowing Sydneysiders into her state as part of her election-eve announcement, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has suggested.

"I've not yet heard Premier Palaszczuk's announcement this morning. I understand she still won't let Sydneysiders come to Queensland," Ms Berejiklian told a press conference this morning.

"I understand that there might be an announcement for regional NSW."

The Queensland premier is set to announce her decision on the Queensland-NSW border shortly, ahead of the Queensland election tomorrow.

Ms Berejiklian described the ongoing border closure as "disappointing", while implying it was a political decision that may change tomorrow, following the Queensland state election.

"Let's see what the premier might say tomorrow about that issue," Ms Berejiklian said.

"If I have my way, I wouldn't have any borders but with Victoria. It is extremely unfair and lacks common sense and logic to lump NSW in with Victoria.

"It is painful to me that New Zealanders can come and go from NSW but I can't go to Queensland, I can't go to WA and I don't think that's right."

The premier also addressed NSW's border closure with Victoria, saying it could be lifted "within weeks", if the health advice permits.

The key test, according to the premier, will be whether coronavirus transmission remains low two weeks after the lifting of Melbourne's lifting of restrictions on Tuesday night.

It comes as NSW recorded no new coronavirus infections in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, but a late-night diagnosis will be recorded in tomorrow's figures.

The new case is a child who attended Flip Out Prestons Indoor Trampoline Park in Prestons, where another infected child attended on Sunday October 25.
