A man accused of the ongoing sexual abuse and kidnapping of a woman allegedly hid in a wall cavity behind a bookshelf as police raided a Sydney house.
NSW Police searched a home on Monfarville Road in St Marys two weeks ago as part of an investigation into the alleged abuse of a woman, aged 37. The pair are known to each other.
As investigators executed the search warrant and seized mobile phones, it is alleged the man, 43, was hidden away in a concealed wall cavity behind a bookshelf.
Police searched the home again yesterday with assistance from specialist tactical resources including the dog squad and bomb unit.
During the second search, investigators found several items, including a mobile phone, duct tape and documentation. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
A dog was also taken to the local vet for treatment.
The 43-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was changed with 13 offences.
These are:
- sexual intercourse without consent
- aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm
- aggravated sexual assault – deprive liberty (DV)
- take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage cause actual bodily harm (DV)
- stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (DV)
- two counts of common assault (DV)
- assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV)
- three counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty
- two outstanding warrants for domestic violence offences.
Police will allege in court the man sexually assaulted and physically abused the woman from July to August of this year.
He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today. Investigations are ongoing.
