Childcare centres close after staff test positive to coronavirus

A childcare centre in Port Melbourne has closed after two staff members and one child from the facility tested positive to COVID-19.

The Ada Mary A'Beckett Children's Centre has been deep cleaned and contact tracing remains underway.

In a statement on its website, the centre stated it was taking direction from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to ensure all response protocols and procedures were correctly implemented and followed.

"Safeguarding the health and wellbeing of children, families and employees remains the overwhelming priority of the centre's management and the committee," it read.

The centre will remain closed until further notice.

Childcare centre NiƱo Early Learning Adventures has also closed its Bundoora site after three staff members were diagnosed with coronavirus.

"In line with DHHS advice and protocols, we confirmed on Monday 20 July to parents and staff at our Bundoora centre that we would close that site for deep cleaning due to three confirmed COVID-19 cases among staff," the centre said in a statement.
