An Australian man has died in Indonesia after complaining of breathing difficulties, with health authorities investigating whether he had coronavirus.
The man, aged in his 50s, died this week in holiday accommodation in Munggu, in Bali, according to media reports.
Mengwi police chief I Gede Eka Putra Astawa said the man was with his Indonesian girlfriend named Eka when he complained of shortness of breath, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The woman gave him an unspecified "breath" medicine, believed to be Ventolin.
"She lived at the same address as him. She then gave him his medicine, a few hours later he again complained of breathing problems, held Eka and died in her arms," he said.
"The witness contacted the home owner who then contacted the authorities. Around 5am the team arrived. "COVID-19 protocols were then followed during evacuation [of the body] to Sanglah hospital morgue.
