Teenager kidnapped as trio allegedly force girl into car boot

Police are investigating a suspected kidnapping after a teenage girl was allegedly forced into the boot of a car in Victoria's west last night.

Detectives from Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit were told the 19-year-old woman was driving along Humphrey Street when she pulled over, after noticing a light-coloured sedan car following her.

The car parked in front of the woman's vehicle, with one male and two females allegedly forcing the teenager into the boot of the sedan.

It is alleged the victim was then driven around for about 10 minutes before she was dropped off in bushland, a short distance from where the alleged kidnapping began.

Emergency services rushed to the scene about 10pm, with CFA crews dismantling the back seats of the vehicle to rescue the girl.

Police told 9News the parties were known to each other and there were no ongoing safety concerns for the general public.

The 19-year-old was taken to Ballarat Base Hospital in in a stable condition with minor injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
