Police re-enact woman's fatal balcony fall from Sydney hotel

Police have staged a re-enactment at the Sydney CBD hotel where a 45-year old woman fell to her death from a balcony last weekend.

A dummy was seen being taken into the Hyatt Regency hotel by detectives, with investigators also abseiling down the side of the building as part of the probe.

Forensic Evidence and Technical Services Branch and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit were involved.

Emergency services were called just after 8pm last Friday to the Sussex Street hotel, following reports a woman had fallen from a tenth-floor balcony.

Officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics found the body of a woman on a level one rooftop.

A 48-year-old man – known to the woman – was arrested at the scene and taken to Day Street Police Station.

He was later since been released pending further investigation.

Police would like to speak with anyone who was staying at the hotel or walking on the boardwalk on the Darling Harbour side of the hotel on Friday night and saw or heard something suspicious.
