'No red flags' before double fatal stabbing attack

A man and woman are both dead after a double stabbing in Sydney's west this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Tongariro Terrace, Bidwill just before 1pm.

On arrival, police found Ruth Mataafa out the front of the house with multiple stab wounds to her back and chest.

Officers also found the 22-year-old's boyfriend Jaciah Fuimaono dead inside the house with stab wounds to his chest.

Ms Mataafa was rushed to Westmead Hospital however she died from her injuries during emergency surgery.

Police allege Mr Fuimaono attacked his girlfriend before stabbing himself to death, as horrified family members tried to intervene.

A relative told 9News they saw Mr Fuimaono yesterday and there were no warning signs that something was wrong. He wasn't known to police for any violent matters either.

"We believe there may have been some recent split between the pair and they may have been trying to get back together," Detective Chief Inspector Paul Tickner said.

"It's a tragic loss of life - I mean, they're only 22-years-old, had their whole life in front of them & unfortunately both are lost to us."
