Man charged after 'trying to persuade teenage girl into toilets with him'

A man will face court after allegedly approaching a teenage girl and trying to persuade her to go into public toilets with him.

The 14-year-old girl was on her way to school in Sydney's inner west about 8am yesterday when the man came up to her outside Burwood Train Station, police allege.

The man walked beside the girl down Burwood Road, allegedly trying to persuade her to go with him into the public toilets nearby.

The girl kept walking and told school authorities who contacted police.

About 2pm yesterday a man, 58, was arrested on Victoria Street in Burwood and taken to Burwood Police Station.

He was charged with intentionally inciting a child - over 10 and under 16 years – to perform sexual act.

He was refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today.
