A third day of search efforts are under way to find Hervey Bay man Paul Brazier, 37, with authorities working to determine if a boat found on Thursday was his.
Emergency service crews have been searching waters off Hervey Bay and Fraser Island after Mr Brazier did not return from a fishing trip as planned on Tuesday.
His upturned 2002 Yalta 5.4-metre half cabin powerboat was found between Fraser Island and the Wide Bay coastline at midday on Thursday.
The 37-year-old left the Urangan Boat Harbour at Hervey Bay about 1.30pm on Monday, with police beginning a search after being alerted on Wednesday.
An expanded search on Thursday, including fixed-wing aircraft, also combed waters off Fraser Island.
Mr Brazier is described as Caucasian, approximately 177cm tall, of a proportionate build, with red crew-cut hair, a beard and moustache.
